Northumbrian Water has been recognised as one of UK's top employers for the fourth consecutive year.

The award by Great Place to Work UK placed the water company on the super large category of UK's Best Workplaces list.

Northumbrian Water stands as the only water and sewage firm on the list, and is one of 50 organisations recognised.

Elouise Leonard-Cross, head of People Strategy and Experience at Northumbrian Water, said: "It is absolutely fantastic being recognised nationally for the fourth time as a top employer alongside other big names such as Admiral and Hilton.

“We have continued to have a particular focus on wellbeing at work over the last year and have had a positive response from our colleagues who are benefiting from creating a healthier workplace.

“We are really proud to be one of the ‘UK’s Best Workplaces™ and this recognition demonstrates the one team approach we see every day across our business, and we are committed to understanding how we can continue to support the needs of our diverse colleagues.”

The recognition was given after surveying colleagues, with attention given to factors such as ethics, customer focus, and careers and development.

Various initiatives by the company, aimed at improving workplace experience, and what it delivers for its customers, communities and the environment were also taken into consideration.

This includes the Living Well programme which gives employees access to health and well-being resources.

Other initiatives like the Just an Hour volunteering scheme, where staff can devote their time to causes, were also recognised.

More than 200 organisations benefited from the scheme last year, with 35 per cent of employees participating.

This recognition follows an earlier one in March where Northumbrian Water/Essex and Suffolk Water were recognised as one of the most ethical companies globally by Ethisphere, for the 13th consecutive year.
