Village residents have welcomed a farm shop named after the owners' granddaughter.

Louise Wilkinson and her husband, Sean Wilkinson, have been overwhelmed by Stocksfield residents' support since they opened Rosie's Farm Shop earlier this month.

The couple from Wylam decided to name the shop after their granddaughter, who was born prematurely and passed away earlier this year.

The shop also has another family connection.

Louise explains: "We opened the shop after my husband drove past and saw it was up for rent.

"We recognised the site immediately as my late mother-in-law used to own it 20-plus years ago and ran it as a fruit and flower shop.

"Sadly, she passed away a couple of years ago, and so when we saw it, we decided to open it in her memory.

"We have also named the shop in memory of our granddaughter, who was sadly born premature and passed away this year.  It was our daughter’s wish that we named the shop after her, Rosie. Therefore, we called it Rosie’s farm shop.

"This is our first venture together. My husband is a farmer at Bays Leap Dairy farm, Heddon-on-the-Wall.

"We have introduced an organic milk and milkshake vending machine into the shop, as well as fresh fruit, vegetables, and local produce, which we feel complement each other.

"The community support has been outstanding and we can not thank everyone enough."
