DRUGS were seized by police in Haltwhistle as part of ongoing efforts to stamp out illegal drug supply.

Police executed two warrants at addresses on Capel Avenue and Park Road on Tuesday, November 7 where they seized quantities of Valium, heroin and a batch of tablets, as well as more than £5,000 of suspected criminal cash.

Two men, aged 37 and 45, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and taken into custody. They have since been released under investigation.

An investigation into the suspected drug dealing was launched and Neighbourhood Inspector Kate Benson thanked the community for their vigilance.

Insp Benson said: “It is thanks to the significant support we receive from the community, who do not want illegal drugs or antisocial behaviour in their town, that we were able to execute these warrants.

“This is the third warrant we have carried out in recent weeks and we will continue to take enforcement action, and bring those involved in drug supply to justice.

“As a force, we will not tolerate illegal drug supply and we will do all we can to pursue offenders, and support those vulnerable people caught up in the cycle of addiction.”
