HEXHAM'S annual bonfire and fireworks display was hailed a success this year as hundreds crowded into the Sele to see the skys light up in different colours.
This year Hexham Town Council took over from Hexham Round Table who has organised it for almost 70 years.
A new change was added this year, as the fireworks were choreographed to music for the first time.
The event was funded by a fundraising page.
The primary aim of fundraising at this year’s event will be to secure funds for the next year and a JustGiving page has been set up by Hexham Rotary. Tynedale Lions, North of Tyne Mountain Rescue and Hexham 41 Club will join Hexham Rotary with fundraising buckets at the event.
At 2022’s firework display - organised by Hexham Round Table - £10,000 was raised by Hexham Rotary with the support of the other four organisations. However, that left a shortfall between the money raised and the costs of this year’s event. Hexham Town Council stepped in to ensure that the event could return.
