A TYNEDALE woman hopes to continue her fundraising efforts and become the next Miss Environment International.

Juliette Taylor, from Ponteland, has raised nearly £900 for Daisy Chain North East and Fauna & Flora International in her pagent campaign, where she was crowned the first Miss Environment England, on August 5 this year at Hilton East Midlands Airport, run by Eco Pageants UK.

The 21-year-old also won the best in swimwear, best in evening gown and Eco Ambassador awards and her fundraising efforts included photo shoots at Joe Laws photography studio in Newburn, Party in the park stall, raffles and a sponsored 100-mile walking challenge.

Juliette has also made an advocacy - Earth 365, which focuses on new small changes we can make each month to have a positive impact on our environment including things like litter picking, food banks and second-hand clothes shopping.

She also wrote an environmental song for primary school children and is hoping to get this recorded with members of Jill Errington Theatre School.

Next year she hopes to add another title to her portfolio and will be travelling to the Miss Environment International 2024 competition, with women from all around the world.

Speaking about her achievements so far, she said: "It felt absolutely incredible to win knowing that all of my hard work with my advocacy, fundraising and all my training had paid off.

"I am a huge fan of the Lionesses so to get to represent England on a world stage is a huge privilege.
"Daisy Chain and Fauna & Flora are both incredible charities who are both environmentally focused so to be able to give back to them and help them raise much-needed vital funds was such a key part of my experience.

She added:- "I absolutely cannot wait for the Miss Environment International competition, we are currently waiting to hear where it will take place and I am so lucky to get to experience it with Nadia King who is Miss Environment Wales and Talu Maden, Miss Environment Scotland."
