A TV chef plans to cook up a storm for a Tynedale town by partnering up with a local business.

MasterChef 2023 contestant Jonny Stewart will be outside The Yellow Bird Cafe, Main Street, in Haltwhistle, to present new flavoured meals to all residents and tourists from 12pm on Sunday, August 13.

The owners of the American cafe, Nicole Jordan and Carlos Carlin believe the meals they have created with Jonny will be worth the wait, as they expect a crowd outside their venue.

"We first saw him on MasterChef, then reached out to him about six weeks ago," Nicole said.

"We reached out through his profile on Instagram and became instant fans as his unique flavour combinations and personality seemed equally as flavourful as ours.

"On the day Jonny will be set up outside of our cafe, serving up his signature fried chicken sandwiches, as well as our collaborative menu item which is to be announced on the day but is sure to excite the masses.

"It is not a ticketed event, just a first come first served basis.

"We’re humbled and thrilled that Chef Jonny felt compelled to join forces with us and bring some more rock n’ roll to Haltwhistle.

"We’re just grateful to have this opportunity and to share our love of good food with our awesome town.

"We’ve been working with each other back and forth, coming up with our collab dish and just general banter."

Jonny, 32, from Hebburn, adds: "I have never been to Haltwhistle before, which makes it all the more exciting.

"Getting to see a new part of the North always makes it fun.

"I'm super excited to be collaborating with The Yellow Bird Cafe after they graciously reached out to me to help make magic together to help bring more joy to where we are.

"On Sunday, people can expect elevated fried chicken sandwiches with different and fun flavours.

"We've also got a pay-it-forward board so people can come and eat even if they may not think they can."
