PUPILS at a Primary school have been praised for raising over £800 for charity in several fundraising events over the week.

Richard Coates CE Primary School in Ponteland dedicated a whole week to raising money for Tiny Lives, where every year group took part in raising money for the important charity.

Leader of the school council and teacher, Claire Huitson said: "The school council decided they would like to hold a whole school charity event to raise money for a local charity.

"The charity that was selected was Tiny Lives, a charity very close to the Richard Coates wider community.

"Each year group held events to raise money, this included a sponsored walk/run, charity picnic, stay and play, cake sales, and charity stalls.

"We also held a whole school non-uniform event. A parent donated a £500 holiday voucher to raffle off, which helped raise a grand total of £836.46.

"Lousie Carroll, a Tiny Lives representative, came to school before our charity event to tell the whole school about the work they do, and she also came to accept the check which was presented to them by the school council.

"It was a wonderful effort from the whole Richard Coates community."
