STUDENTS recieved a standing ovation after performing their first theatre production since Covid-19.

Corbridge Middle School has receieved praise for their production of Beauty and the Beast which involved over 70 pupils and was the first show since the pandemic.

Year 7 student, Will Hargreaves said: "I really enjoyed the experience and am so happy I got the opportunity to do this. It has enhanced my aspiration to enter into the world of theatre. 

Matilda Osborne, Year 5 agreed with Will and said:"It was so much fun! I got to make friends with people I may not have made friends with otherwise. It's definitely improved my confidence in acting on stage."

Emily Jeffery, Year 7, also adds:"It was a really fun experience and I gained a great insight into what it's like to be in a real performance both on and offstage."

Speaking about the success of the show, Head teacher Mrs Brown said:"We could not be more proud of the children for their efforts in the school musical. They have all worked incredibly hard and brought such talent and enthusiasm to the performance.

"The fact that we have over 70 children involved has been a wonderful experience - participation in the arts is so important for confidence, self esteem and building relationships and the whole school community has really got behind this project! 

"I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who also volunteered their time to make this year's show, the first since the pandemic, such a roaring success! Well done everyone!"
