In this week's nostalgia, we take a look at the Slaley Shows over the years in anticipation of the 161st anniversary on Saturday, August 12.

The show has long been a highlight of the Tynedale agricultural show season for hundreds of years and always brings huge crowds to Northumberland.

After being an event that runs annually, there was a huge disappointment when it, along with most of the other shows across the district, was unable to go ahead in 2020 due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

However, organisers were able to change the format of the event and make a virtual show where members of the public were still able to judge sheep, industrial classes, floral art, children’s, horses, and dogs online.

Apart from the pandemic, the only other time the event was called was in 2019 when the weather was bad and the field was waterlogged.

Thankfully, the show returned in 2022 for its 160th show where hundreds turned out to see the event back to normal and enjoyed the day in the sun.
