THE body of a man has been found near the River Tyne.

Emergency services were called to the Corbridge area on Sunday after reports of concern for a male - but he was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police said: "Shortly after 2pm onSunday we received a report of concern for the welfare of a man near the river at Station Road in Corbridge.

“Emergency services attended but sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

 “The man’s family are currently being supported by specialist officers.

“There is not believed to be any third party involvement and a report will be made for the coroner.”
