RAIL passangers faced delays between Hexham and Newcastle on Tuesday morning after a train struck a tree.
Operator Northern said a train had hit a fallen tree near Blaydon, blocking the railway lines, at around 7.30am.
The lines were reopened at around 8.45am on Tuesday morning, but passangers were told to continue to expect disruption in the form of delays or cancellations while services returned to normal.
