THE everyday work of Northumbria Police was brought to light as Hexham’s MP and a Hexham councillor gave a day to policing.
Give A Day To Policing is a nationwide programme where Members of Parliament were invited to join their local police forces during the summer parliamentary recess.
Hexham’s MP Guy Opperman joined in with the initiative and spent time out on patrol with police.
He was joined by county councillor for Hexham East, Cath Homer.
During the day, they learnt more about the everyday work of Northumbria Police, had the chance to see some of the force’s focus areas and caught up with the team at Hexham Police Station.
Mr Opperman said: “I’m grateful to Northumbria Police for allowing me to spend time with them, and to discuss a wide range of issues in relation to policing in the area.
“Tynedale is a beautiful, and safe, place to live, and my thanks go to every member of the Northumbria Police team for the work that they do to keep it that way.”
