POLICE seized cannabis from three houses in Tynedale after carrying out morning raids.

Officers executed search warrants at two addresses in Hexham and one in Acomb on Friday, August 31. Small quantities of the Class B drug were recovered and offenders have since been cautioned.

News of the raids was revealed by Tynedale’s Neighbourhood Inspector, Pam Bridges, as part of a crime and policing update to councillors at the latest meeting of the Tynedale Local Area Council, held at Hexham House.

In an effort to tackle rural crime, Insp. Bridges added that officers had also been involved in a number of operations to stop and search vehicles on local roads.

“To support local farmers, our officers have stopped and seized vehicles and equipment from people breaking the law,” she added. “These are challenging times for us all and protecting the vulnerable remains our number one priority.”

A spate of recent bin fires and reports of graffiti and damage at the Sele and Hexham town centre have also been dealt with by local officers.
