HEXHAM’S very own taste of Mexico is expanding its business beyond food to encourage community participation and awareness of South America.

Little Mexico is a gastro eatery on Market Street in Hexham and provides a true Mexican experience through authentic food and a wide range of products imported directly from the country.

After taking over the business in April, and having gained an overall rating of five stars and the number one place to eat in Hexham slot on Tripadvisor, it’s no wonder visitors are returning to taste the variety of South American dishes on offer.

Now owners Steven Echanique and Daniel Contreras are hoping to take it to the next level. “We’re already seeing the changes since taking over. We’ve improved the menu, but we also want keep on expanding,” Steven said.

Part of the restaurant’s vision is to share the languages and cultures of South America with the people of Tynedale.

The restaurant has recently launched Spanish lessons on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4pm to 5pm. Local schools participation and handicraft sessions are also planned.

“We want to serve the community and we hope to utilise our name of Little Mexico in more ways than one,” Steven added.
