A FUND-RAISING campaign to pay for life saving surgery for a Kielder woman has finally been successful.

Carrie-Beckwith Fellows, who suffers from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, needed £100,000 to pay for surgery in Barcelona to fuse her spine.

Her mobility, memory, and sight have been badly affected by the condition and the surgery, which was not available on the NHS, was her only hope.

Now, Carrie's fund has finally reached the target, after raising £95,000 since April.

Carrie arrived in Barcelona at 5am on Monday morning, after being forced to travel to Barcelona by van, with the journey taking 44 hours.
