A POPULAR North Tyne caravan park has changed hands in a deal worth a six figure sum.

The Hareshaw Linn Caravan Park in Bellingham was put up for sale earlier this year by the Duke of Northumberland with a £1.4m price tag.

Hundreds of thousands of pounds were spent on new drainage, access roads and an additional 22 pitches for static caravans. And new owners Ward Leisure, of Stokesley in Yorkshire, plan to continue the investment to boost visitor numbers.

The company currently operates two sites in North Yorkshire, but partner Robert Ward said the Bellingham site had the potential to be the best of the lot.

“Hareshaw Linn Caravan Park is set in beautiful scenery and we plan to make the park itself worthy of the setting by installing proper tarmac roads, as well as creating feature flower beds,” he said.

“The Duke did an excellent job in improving the site, but we are spending a lot of money in finishing off the good work he started.”

More than 100 guests attended a welcome party, which included a pop up inflatable pub, to mark the official takeover on July 21.
