PRUDHOE residents have revealed their thoughts and feelings on where they live through a town survey.

Community charity, Prudhoe Community Partnership, carried out the survey in May and June this year, and the results have been analysed by Community Action Northumberland.

At the partnership's annual general meeting last month, the first results were revealed.

Out of 500 replies from questionnaires and a poll at Prudhoe Town Fair, 23 per cent rated Prudhoe an excellent place to live and 33 per cent voted Prudhoe as very good.

Margaret Boonstra, a trustee of the partnership, who organised the survey, said she was delighted that 83 per cent of respondents awarded Prudhoe three stars or more.

Twelve per cent said Prudhoe “could do better” while 5 per cent said that Prudhoe was “not so good”.

The survey showed dissatisfaction with services for young people, but satisfaction with services for older people.

Meanwhile a large majority of people wanted the town centre to be improved and said they would like to see a wider range of shops.

The guest speaker at the AGM, Emma Richardson, poverty lead at Northumberland County Council, spoke about how Prudhoe could realise its strengths and improve the well-being of people in the town.

A full report on the survey is expected to be available in autumn, and will include recommendations on the results.
