Star pianist Khrystyna Mykhailichenko is set to return to the Tyne Valley with a concert in Hexham.

The young Ukrainian musician is back in the North East after studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London, her first time performing locally since leaving the area in September last year.

She gave a number of performances in Corbridge and other venues in the area during 2022 and 2023.

This latest concert is the Hexham and District Music Society’s season finale at the Queen’s Hall Arts Centre on Saturday, April 13.

The performance commences at 7.30pm.

It will feature solo piano music by Bach, Beethoven and Schumann.

Chair of the society, Joan Peugniez said: "What a delight to have Khrystyna playing in Hexham again!

"She really is a talent to watch.

"We are very lucky to welcome her here at the start of what will undoubtedly be a great international career."

The principal of the Royal Academy of Music hailed her as an 'extraordinary talent of rare maturity for her age'.

Ms Mykhailichenko had her first piano lesson at the age of four, and made her first public appearance just a year later.

She then made her solo debut with an orchestra at eight years old and has won several international competitions since.

Ms Mykhailichenko and her family moved to Corbridge following the Russian invasion of Ukraine two years ago.
