Town gears up for bogie race
PRUDHOE is gearing up for a wheelie good time when the annual bogie race takes place this weekend.
Prudhoe Town Football club will host the Tip Top Bogie Race Charity day on Saturday, July 15.
It will get under way with a grand parade of bogies, from the football club's Kimberly Park ground, at 2pm, before the race begins.
Up to 17 homemade creations on wheels are set to enter, and organisers are hoping to build on the success of the event in recent years.
This year the race will support children who suffer from Arthrogryposis, a congenital condition causing curved joints in different areas of the body.
A 1970s themed disco will take place at the football club throughout the afternoon and into the evening, with people being encouraged to dress in fashions from the era.
Organiser Brian Batey said: "We are hoping for another fun day with homemade bogies parading and racing, as well as other entertainment.
"It's always good to see what bogies people have created, and at the same time support a really worthy cause."
Last year's event raised hundreds of pounds in support of local man, Andrew Newton, who suffered from autism.
