MERSEYSIDE rock band The Coral will mark their reunion by headlining this year‘s Corbridge Festival.

The five piece famed for hits Dreaming of You and In The Morning were today (18/02) announced as the main act at the Tynedale music festival which takes place at Tynedale Rugby Club on July 9.

The band broke through in the early 2000s and have since had eight top 30 singles and six top 20 albums, with new offering  Distance Inbetween soon to be released for their first album in six years.

Their debut album The Coral of 2002 was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and was later voted the fourth best  album of the year by NME Magazine . 

They followed up with acclaimed  Magic and Medicine  a year later, and their new album due out in March will be accompanied by a UK and European tour.

The Coral were just one of a handful of acts announced for the festival with more to come in the next few months.

The frontman of popular ska band The Specials who were responsible for number one UK singles Too Much Too Young and Ghost Town in the 1980s, Neville Staple, will perform some of his own material as well as classics from his former band.

Sunderland indie rock group Frankie & The Heartstrings, best known for hit single Hunger , are also confirmed along with Mark Morris, front man of indie band The Bluetones to play hits such as Slight Return  and Cut Some Rug .

Too Many T’s, described as Britain‘s answer to the Beastie Boys, will play, as will local bluegrass rock and roll band Bessie & the Zinc buckets for a second year.
