A COUPLE of local artists will join international acts on the main stage at this year’s Corbridge Festival.

While the July event has attracted top names such as Grandmaster Flash and The Coral, it this week named two North-East performers too.

And they don’t come more local than Americana bluegrass collective The Cherry Pickers, from Hexham, who have been picked to open the festival on the main day of July 9 to illustrate the diversity of genres to be found at the concert.

Quirky South Shields singer Cortney Dixon is also on the main stage, the youngster regarded as one of the region’s best emerging young talents.

The second stage line-up, organised this year by Ubeat TV, has also been announced, with Samantha Lavery, a singer with Prudhoe rock group Bitter Sweet Hearts, to feature high up the list.

Jonny Boyle will headline, with Smooth Jezza, Bre Musiq, Twister, Stretch Bk, Tarkan Basara and Lauren Lowes also confirmed.
