IF you haven't heard the track Where We Go , go and listen to it. Now.

The single from The Welcome Party is simply excellent; there is no other word to describe it.

Jamie Thomas' vocals are brilliant with a delightful rasp to it, and the track sounds like something the Gaslight Anthem and Arcade Fire would produce.

From that very first chord, the track whips you up and doesn't let go, a top class effort from the band formed by four former Prudhoe High School pupils 18 months ago.

Where We Go is one of five songs on the four piece's debut EP Always Winter and, while undoubtedly the highlight, is not the only smasher on it.

The follow-up track Glass House is just knocked off the top spot of our favourite on the EP, Thomas' voice with a hint of similarities to the late great David Bowie.

Sour Days continues to hit the heights and the final track Two is good, but not as good as the others in our opinion (well, we had to find something slightly negative to say, such is the format of reviews!)

What is also striking about the EP is the choice to start with the instrumental Always Winter; no words just two minutes and 22 seconds of music.

While it may put some people off, our views is that it's a brave and bold decision by the band, and it has paid off.

It builds up in intensity as it progresses, acting as the perfect starter in preparation for the sublime main dish of musical brilliance which follows.
