MANY thanks to reader Sheila Carson who supplied the missing name from the line-up in this photograph of Tynedale Cricket Club’s 2nd XI in the 1970s.
Sheila helpfully identified the young scorer sitting in front of the team as John Riddell who went on to a distinguished career in the RAF. He is still heavily involved with cricket and currently manages the Combined Services Team, which includes ex-Tynedale players Graeme Cessford and Tim Adcock.
The rest of the line-up pictured outside the clubhouse at Prior’s Flat is: back row from left, Philip Herdman, Graham Nevitte, Eddie Coulson, Dick Holt, David Mason and Ian Thompson.
At the front are John Darling, Brian Bell, Terry Darling Stephen Lishman and Don Hill.
