DOES anyone recognise themselves from this photograph, taken after a race for home-made bogies held behind a pub “somewhere in Tynedale”?
And people will probably have mixed memories of the brewery that sponsored the event, Edinburgh’s Drybrough’s, whose Keg Heavy was a favoured tipple in some quarters, but despised in others, as was the output of another Scottish brewery, Lorimers.
Drybrough’s supplied a brewery in Alnwick and had several outlets in Tynedale.
In 1965, Dryborugh’s was taken over by Watney Mann, and in 1987, the company was closed down by new owners Allied Lyons.
We think the picture dates from the mid 1970s.
