STOCKSFIELD ice cream parlour Wheelbirks has scooped a record-breaking day in the sun.

The farm and ice-cream parlour attracted a record number of visitors to its Open Farm Day.

A total of 1,522 flocked to the farm during the course of the day, making it Wheelbirk’s busiest day on record.

Open Farm Day offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about farming and the countryside.

Tractor and trailer rides were on offer as well as walking farm tours, welly wanging, market stalls, animal quizzes and milking demonstrations.

One of the farm’s Jersey cows even had her calf in the front field, an event which proved fascinating to many visitors.

And throughout the day, the popular Wheelbirks Parlour was churning out home-made ice cream and treats.

Lucinda Richardson of Wheelbirks said: “It’s been incredible, we had many people giving feedback all day.

“The day is so popular as it’s the perfect opportunity to learn more about the countryside.”

Wheelbirks has recently announced a new feature, a Kickgolf site in association with Kickgolf UK.

A giant golf course has been created on the field adjacent to the Parlour orchard.
