ORGANISERS of Northumberland County Show have brought in specialist legal experts to support the event’s growth.

Tynedale Agricultural Society, which runs Northumberland County Show, has appointed Newcastle-based commercial law firm Watson Burton to provide legal support in the run-up to the event, which takes place on bank holiday monday, May 29.

Its relocation five years ago from its former home in Corbridge to parkland at Bywell Hall, near Stocksfield, has helped the event attract more visitors and attractions.

It is the biggest show of its kind in the North-East, attracting more than 26,000 visitors from across the region and further afield

Watson Burton will deliver services including lease renewals, and reviews of terms and conditions, and will provide legal advice and business support to the event team.

James Wardle, chairman of Tynedale Agricultural Society, said: “We have seen the show grow significantly since our move to Bywell Hall.

“We hope to extend the acreage of the show ground to increase parking, expand our facilities and add new attractions.

“Our lease agreements are due for review this year and we need the help of experts to assist us. We are delighted to welcome Watson Burton as our solicitors as they have such a great track record in this area of property law.”

Duncan Reid, partner and national head of corporate at Watson Burton, said: “Northumberland County Show is shaping up to be a fantastic event this year and all of the team at Watson Burton are excited to be involved so closely with a truly prestigious event in Northumberland’s calendar.”

This year’s show will be celebrating the first ever Northumberland Day, which takes place on Sunday, May 28, the day before the show.

It will feature a monster truck show; a Roman cavalry re-enactment and a parade of tractors through the ages, as well as 350 trade stands, local food and drink, a fun fair and live music.
