HALLINGTON farmer, William Hall, took the overall champion rosette at the Scots Gap Christmas prize show and sale last Wednesday.
Judge, Jamie Curle, of Bowsden, Berwick on Tweed, had to decide between 30 pens of show sheep and he commented on the outstanding level of quality throughout all the classes.
But in the end, the Robson & Cowan Challenge Cup was awarded to a pen of five well-bred Beltex cross lambs brought out by Mr Hall on behalf of Messrs E & I Hall & Son, of New Houses, Hallington. The pen had previously taken the first prize rosette in the Beltex cross class and the New Houses breeding had clearly caught the judge’s eye as he awarded the second prize rosette to a very similar pen of lambs from the same farm.
