TWIN lambs have been born on a farm in Haltwhistle just as autumn descends.

Farmer Willie Weatherson, who farms at Edges Green on the Roman Wall, said: “I went up to feed the Leicester ewes one morning – I’ve only got four of them – and there the oldest one was, with two lambs. I couldn’t believe it! A pair of lambs at this time of the year is ridiculous!”

The conception must have happened when he turned his sheep out one unusually warm day in April, he said. “Obviously the tup was warmed up enough for some funny business.”
