A SENSE of calm will soon spread among the youngest in Hexham as young yogis begin to stretch themselves from an early age.

New baby and toddler yoga classes have been launched by Kalma Baby at Hexham Abbey’s Priory Hall.

Business owner, Lisa Cryer began holding the classes in Gateshead two years ago and now has more than 300 babies on her books.

Claire Zorlutuna joined the team in June this year as a teacher to help meet increased demand.

Lisa said: “It has numerous serious benefits as well as having lot of fun.

“After Claire came to join me as a teacher it felt like the perfect time to stretch further afield as we have had numerous inquiries about classes in the Hexham area.

“It has also freed up my time to go into schools and work with older children.”

Kalma Baby uses yoga based stretches, music and relaxation to aid the development of babies.

Lisa said it can also help with digestive issues and sleeplessness.

Claire added: “I was thrilled when Hexham Abbey offered the Priory Hall. It is a beautiful setting.

“My toddler class is almost full now already in just our first term.

“And I’d like to add a non mobile class to support more babies and parents too.”

Classes run on a Thursday afternoon.

And on Thursday, November 17 a taster session for non-mobile babies will be held.
