A TYNEDALE dessert boutique is getting chocola-tea for a good cause.

The Pudding Parlour is teaming up with The Sick Children’s Trust to raise money for families with seriously ill children in hospital.

The sweet-treats specialist has been named the regional partner for the charity’s Big Chocolate Tea campaign.

The event is The Sick Children’s Trust’s biggest fund-raiser of the year.

The Pudding Parlour will be asking customers at its Morpeth and Prudhoe stores to take part by requesting a free fund-raising pack and holding an event with their favourite sweet treats and home bakes.

People can take part in the Big Chocolate Tea during the last week in April.

The money raised will provide free home from home accommodation for families with seriously ill children in hospital.

Kristy Giblin, who runs the Pudding Parlour alongside brother Greg Small, said: “As massive fans of all things chocolate here at The Pudding Parlour, we’re the first to advocate for a chocolate-filled event. But more importantly,
we know what a fabulous cause it’s for.

“During the last week in April, there will be special offers, freebies and Big Chocolate Tea-themed cupcakes and treats of which all profits will go to The Sick Children’s Trust.

“For many years, I have been involved with fund-raising for Crawford House which is one of The Sick Children’s Trust’s ‘Homes from Home’ in Newcastle.

“And as a business, Greg and I both decided to nominate The Sick Children’s Trust as our chosen charity, as we know how amazing it is.”

The charity runs two ‘Homes from Home’ supporting families with sick children in Newcastle, at the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital.

Last year, Big Chocolate Tea raised £60,000, which gave 2,000 families free accommodation, keeping them together when it matters most.

Campaigns and appeals manager Caroline O’Doherty said: “Individuals up and down the country will be taking part to support thousands of families, keeping them close to their seriously ill child while they undergo lifesaving treatment in hospital.

“By getting involved with Big Chocolate Tea this April and raising at least £30, you could support a family for one night at a ‘Home from Home’.”
