A POPULAR Ponteland cocktail bar has increased its space and facilities for customers after an £80,000 investment.

In response to high demand for private parties and functions, the mezzanine level at Yolo Ponteland has been extended and the addition of a dedicated bar has taken the floor’s capacity up to 50.

Downstairs, the main bar has also been extended.

Now there is a section for draught and bottle service only, to speed up customer flow and reduce queuing during busy periods on weekends and bank holidays.

There are now more VIP booths for hire, while the interior has benefited from general improvements, and a pizza oven has been installed in the kitchen.

Since opening its doors in September 2015, Yolo Ponteland has been well received by locals, and last month its owners, Danieli Holdings, announced a second site on High Bridge Street in Newcastle – Yolo Townhouse – which is set to launch later this spring following a £1m investment.

Danieli Holdings chief executive Neill Winch said: “We have been overwhelmed by the success of Yolo Ponteland and to meet demand have invested a significant sum to build on the private hire and functions arm of the business, as well as further enhancements aimed to make customers’ dining and drinking experiences even more enjoyable.

“There is more to choose from than ever before on our food and drinks menus, including sharing options and cocktail experiences for group bookings. Following the relaunch of our Ponteland venue, we are gearing up for the grand unveiling of its sister site in Newcastle city centre.”
