A CORBRIDGE business is celebrating its 16th year in the trade with a brand new look.

Saunders and Pughe Goldsmith’s on Hill Street has been transformed with modern decor to show off Robert Pughe’s jewellery creations to their best.

“Our customers loved the original clean, bright Scandinavian feel of the shop,” said partner Marianne Saunders, who is a qualified gemologist.

“So we did not want to make dramatic changes.

“But, as we have grown and developed our designer jewellery business, we wanted our shop to reflect this.”

Over more than a decade and a half, the duo have seen their customers celebrate engagements, weddings, new babies and special anniversaries with their jewellery.

“The shop has been extended several times over the years and our own family have gone to school locally and grown up here.

“Our staff are all lovely local people, so we really feel like part of the fabric of the village,” added Marianne.

Working alongside experienced goldsmith Robert is employee Ross Bonner, who started out as an apprentice 10 years ago and has now developed into a crucial member of the team.

Marianne said: “The new look has been a real labour of love, and really worth it, especially as it has been completed in time for Christmas.”
