IT’S all coming up roses for a Mickley gardening company as it celebrates national awards success –for a fourth time.

Northumbrian Landscaping received two honours at the British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) National Awards.

The company’s project at The Clock House in Wylam, impressed judges and saw it take the top spot in two categories.

The project was the principal award winner in domestic garden construction under £30k and the special award in the design and build category.

The scheme was designed around a new path to the front door of The Clock House, with sight lines and windows from within the property also taken into consideration.

The project was designed to be sympathetic with the original purpose of the recently refurbished property, which began life as a stables.

The design was in keeping with the planting and style of the existing garden and existing on-site material was recycled.

The judges said: “The contractor has designed and implemented an intriguing and beguiling solution to the problem of how to lead visitors through the garden to the main entrance door of this beautiful home.”

Northumbrian Landscaping in Mickley comprises company director, Peter Cunliffe, site manager, Nick Rudsdale and plantswoman, Sophie Simpson.

The company has now been asked to design the show garden for the British Association of Landscape Industries at next year’s Harrogate Show.

Peter Cunliffe said: “This is our fourth national success from three entries.

“We are very proud of the county to which we belong and have used the colours and name of our county for 15 years.

“We are delighted to have brought this prestigious award home again.”
