Walwick Hall, near Humshaugh, has been shortlisted in the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) North East Awards for Planning Excellence.
It is one of six entries vying for the award, which celebrates outstanding projects that demonstrate the power of planning.
The conversion of Walwick Hall involved turning the Grade II listed building from a private dwelling into a boutique country hotel.
Architect Kate Wilson of Doonan Architects was tasked with the challenge.
