A HEXHAM engineering firm has remodelled itself for expansion into new markets.

Red Marine has been renamed, Red Engineering in a move that also includes a new brand identity.

Established in 2008, the Burn Lane firm undertakes specialist engineering consultancy and design work.

The company plans to extend its operations beyond the offshore oil and gas marine sector and into other industrial and manufacturing markets.

Red Engineering is already providing consultancy to the nuclear decommissioning sector and qualification testing of sectors used in the agricultural market.

The company, which employs 20 people, has invested in a new automated test rig. This allows the qualification testing of offshore hardware in temperatures ranging from -10C to 60C.

Red Engineering will continue to operate from its head office in Tynedale House and testing facility at Haugh Lane industrial estate.

One of Red Engineering’s directors, Joe Orrell, said: “It is clear that there are new opportunities opening up beyond traditional marine and offshore industries for added value solutions that save customers time and money.

“I’m very much looking forward to taking the new brand forward, building on our successful track record and seeing the company grow and flourish.”
