The Wella TrendVision competition was held in Glasgow last Wednesday, and three staff at Jo Anderson Designer Hair narrowly missed out on the top spots.
Now in their 10th year in Hexham, Joanne and John Anderson have been entering staff for the competition every year.
“We usually try to encourage our young people to get involved as it’s great for the team; we are always growing our team,” said John.
“We have become a bit like the Mum and Dad and it’s good to encourage their confidence and watch them grow; we are immensely proud of them for getting through.”
Arianne Kennedy, the salon manager, was one of the finalists in the male grooming category, along with stylist Bethany Brislen. Joanne Anderson was a finalist in the colour vision category.
They were shortlisted after impressing judges in the first round of the competition, which took place in March.
Stylists are given a briefing, relating to current trends and fashion, and must interpret it to create their own look, including dressing the model and using colours which represent their idea.
They can then build on their look if they get through to the finals.
Joanne said: “We have had different successes over the years but this year was big to have three stylists in the finals.”
