A CHILDREN’S clothing shop, which brings a little bit of Italy to Hexham, has opened on Beaumont Street.

Ralph & Mimi, home to exclusive Italian brands and made to measure clothing, had its grand opening last weekend, and for owner Roya Manouchehri, it’s a dream come true.

“I have always wanted to have my own shop but never thought it would happen,” the 28-year-old said.

“I own a children’s clothing brand, Manouchehri, and thought Hexham would be the perfect place to stock it, as well as other brands.”

Formerly part of the Conservative club, Ralph & Mimi is a world away from its former guise. Painted wooden floors and antique furniture serve as a backdrop for the rows of made to measure tweed jackets, occasion dresses and gifts for baby showers.

Ralph & Mimi stocks clothing from Italian brands and is one of only three stockists in the country of Yorkshire company, The Pyjama House.

Customers can enjoy the whole shopping experience. For the made to measure tweed jackets, parents can be involved in picking the fabrics and patterns.

All items are boxed and wrapped in tissue paper to look like presents.

Roya said: “The shop will be perfect for country mums and people who like to dress their children as children.

“I don’t follow trends because I think they date easily.

“The items at Ralph & Mimi are timeless investment pieces and are made to be passed down.”
