A TYNEDALE hairdresser has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious North of England Wedding Awards.

Carly Charlton Hair Design is one of three businesses whose own brides have voted for them in the competition.

Carly (26) has been invited to York Racecourse on September 14 for a gala dinner, arranged by The Wedding Guide when she will discover whether or not she has won.

The awards recognise those businesses which go the extra mile for their customers, providing outstanding service and inspiring their customers to want to positively promote them.

It’s a huge tribute to Carly, who only launched her business last November.

The former Haydon Bridge High School student trained at BL Hairdressing Training college in Newcastle before working in a number of local salons in and around Hexham.

She has dreamed of being a hair stylist since she was a little girl.

“I used to use my sister, who’s seven years younger than me, as a doll,” she said. “I always loved it. When she was little she was a tomboy. She’d be dressed in tracky bottoms with a Shirley Temple hair-do!”

Although Carly specialises in bridal hair, travelling to brides’ homes or venues, she is also happy to attend christenings and other special occasions.
