VITAL learning resources have been secured for youngsters at the Education Centre for Children with Down’s Syndrome after it received over £1,000 from a fund-raising drive.
The charity, which runs out of Sure Start centres in both Hexham and Prudhoe, has received £1,130 from Pricewaterhouse Coopers as part of its ‘People Who Care’ fund-raising scheme.
The programme means that once a month, employees can raise money for a charity close to their hearts.
And Anna Munroe, from the Newcastle branch of the company, chose to raise much-needed funds for the ECCDS.
Anna, who has links with the charity through a friend, ran a weekly cake stall and organised a raffle to raise £560.
She said: “I have a friend whose child goes to the centre, and I think the ECCDS does some really good work.”
The money she raised will be match-funded by Pricewaterhouse Coopers to make a grand total of £1,130.
The ECCDS was established in 2009 and runs regular classes and educational activities specially designed for children with Down’s Syndrome.
The money will help to buy new teaching resources.
