THUNDER, lightning and huge hail stones were all part of a series of dramatic storms which hit the North-East, and parts of Tynedale, on Wednesday.
As temperatures soared beyond 30C in the afternoon, clouds rolled in, accompanied by loud rumbles of thunder and impressive lightning strikes.
Sarah Williams of Ponteland captured this image from her home on Kirkley Drive at around 4pm.
And many were woken in the early hours of Thursday morning by more wild weather, including torrential downpours and loud thunder storms.
